I adore entertaining in the fall, especially a fall dinner party. The weather is cool and there’s always a reason to celebrate! When my friend Lyndsey Zorich reached out to be a part of her Carte Blanche series, I knew this would be the perfect opportunity to start prepping for my upcoming fall dinner parties.
I’ve been drawn to the rich colors and scents that come with autumn and let them influence my dinner table. From serving pieces to the tasty treats, scroll on for everything you need to throw a fall dinner party!
I love playing off pieces that are already in the room. Look around your home to find inspiration from your favorite art, throws, or pillows, and create a color palette that highlights those hues. A vintage oil painting with the most gorgeous antique frame fell into my lap recently. The painting is full of saffrons, brass, and even some deep blushes, which served as the muse for my tablescape.
I’m all about simplicity, so I avoid storing tableware that I only use once a year. By selecting items that transition easily between seasons, I minimize what I have on hand, and invest in statement pieces that can serve as a foundation for years to come.
Gingham napkins in a rich terracotta feel casual enough for daytime gatherings, but bring in a deeper colors that can be dressed up for evening. Blush candle holders were instantly given a fall makeover by using deep plumb candlesticks.
I adore cooking with seasonal produce and have a few crowd-pleasing, staple recipes in my arsenal that are simple to prepare! Apples and figs are full of flavor and dress up apps, salads, and desserts.
RUSTIC APPLE TART
This easy-to-make apple tart is an all-time favorite. My boys love helping me in the kitchen and there’s a lot they can do! This tart isn’t too sweet, so it passes as a dessert or a mid-day snack.
BLUE CHEESE AND BALSAMIC FIGS
When I need a quick appetizer or snack for an unplanned guest, these blue cheese and balsamic figs are a big time-saver! Not only do they look gorgeous, but they quickly elevate your standard charcuterie board.
APPLE AND PARMESAN KALE SALAD
Kale is a hostess’ dream when it comes to salad, because it’s hardy enough to stand up to dressings, giving you the flexibility to pre-assemble and store in the fridge.
When entertaining, I always wear something dressy yet comfortable, so I can easily run around while still looking put together. My go-to is a breezy dress with a statement earring and I love how creams and camels can be worn year round.
Fall is all about embracing natural elements. As a matter of fact, I like to keep things relaxed by skipping the napkin ring and using herbs as table décor.
What’s a gathering without a tasty cocktail? While wine is always easy to open at a moments notice, if I have a little prep time, I love hunting down a fun new drink recipe.
This Autumn Fizz is like a grown-up apple cider and I certainly can’t get enough!
