Floral Study: Inspiration Behind the Design

Over the years, I’ve fallen in love with the quiet beauty that plaster brings to a home. From soft, hand-applied wall finishes to sculpted ceiling details, plaster has a way of adding depth, texture, and a sense of timelessness that feels both classic and deeply personal.

In many of the homes I design, we’ve worked with artisans like Segreto Finishes to create custom plasterwork—delicate florals blooming across powder room walls, or intricate ceiling medallions that feel like they’ve been there for generations. These moments became some of my favorites. They felt meaningful, intentional… and I began to imagine how we might bring that same artistry to life in a way that could stand alone as art.

That’s how the Floral Study series began. Each piece in the series is sculpted by hand—molded and cast into a plaster reliefs. Each relief is applied to a board, framed in beautifully crafted wood, and painted in a timeless hue with just a hint of gilding. We’ve started with dogwood and rose, two blooms that feel symbolic to me—graceful, strong, and quietly elegant. Because they’re handmade, no two pieces are exactly the same. That uniqueness is part of what makes them special.

Recently, we launches a second iteration of our Floral Study with pieces that include an antique brass-toned wood frame that feels timeless and feminine. While the frame isn’t actual brass, its soft metallic finish adds a graceful glow that complements the romantic form of the flowers. I chose to include the antique brass color for its versatility and subtle metallic touch.

Whether you’re hanging one in a hallway, layering it above a console, creating a gallery wall or adding a touch of softness to a study or bedroom, I hope these works feel like an extension of the homes we design—crafted with care and filled with meaning.
