In designing a kitchen that seamlessly blends function with beauty, it’s important to recognize that this room goes beyond cooking—it’s the heart of the home. Here, family and friends gather, meals are shared, and memories are made
I’m thrilled to be traveling across the country to share my new book, The Perfect Room: Timeless Designs for Intentional Living. I look forward to connecting with you, sharing design insights, and celebrating together at events in cities nationwide. Be sure to RSVP for the event near you and check back as new RSVP links, info and tour dates are added. I can’t wait to see you!
Marble, onyx, and quartzite are among my favorite materials for countertops, backsplashes, walls, and flooring. Nothing is more timeless and luxurious than their lustrous surfaces and veining. For a powerful effect, consider using extravagantly veined or colored slab marble panels on walls. Sometimes I like to combine tiles of limestone or marble with porcelain or ceramic, allowing the movement and veining of the natural stone to play off the subtler finish of man-made material.
Because no two gatherings are the same, the composition of living rooms needs to allow for flexibility, adapting to events both large or intimate, dressed up or dressed down.
