The Future of Home Conference brings together some of our industry’s best and brightest visionaries. However, what makes Future of Home so compelling and informative is the cross-section of experts from different residential sectors. Speakers range from designers to real estate experts, publishers and even the legendary Martha Stewart. How can it get better than that? The level of insight from the numerous presenters was incredible and full of interesting insight.
I was thrilled to speak on how to embrace light and choose complementary window coverings when designing a room. I partnered with Hunter Douglas and discussed some of my favorite practices, tips and tricks for selecting window treatments or coverings. Today’s most innovative window covering design trends marry thoughtful home integrations with superb structure. As designers, we are not simply “decorating” windows inside of a new home build. Instead, we are thinking about window coverings as a major part of a home’s architecture. From woven woods to rollers and draperies, there is no need to sacrifice beauty for function, as brands are truly understanding the integral role these window coverings and treatments play in a home’s design and aesthetic. I truly believe that natural light is often a room’s greatest asset; it brings beauty that is incomparable – but the key is knowing how to harness it.
